A Classic Yacht’s Cross-Country Adventure
The Liberty was built as a classic Friendship sloop replica, inspired by the traditional design that originated in Friendship, Maine in the early 1900s. Originally rugged working boats for Maine fishermen, she spent over a decade exploring freshwater sailing in the Great Lakes region after years on the Atlantic coast.
2013
Captain Phil immediately recognized the Liberty’s potential—her good bones, classic lines, and the soul of a genuine sailing vessel. He had been searching for the perfect boat to bring an authentic sailing experience to San Diego Bay, and he found it in her.
2014
In a truly unique story, the Liberty was hauled 2,000 miles across the Rocky Mountains to San Diego. This 41-foot classic yacht traveled by truck through mountain passes and desert highways, becoming one of the few sailing vessels to ever cross the Continental Divide.

After reaching her new home, an 18-month labor of love followed. Through extensive cosmetic and systems restoration, the Liberty was transformed into San Diego Bay’s most beautiful sailing yacht, ready for premium charter experiences.
